Johannesburg – Liverpool are headed to the Mother City this month in a one-off club friendly to face Ajax Cape Town.

The City of Cape Town confirmed that the match will be played at 8.15pm at Cape Town Stadium on May 21.

The fan-walk will be activated for the event and spectators can relive the excitement of the 2010 World Cup as they soak up the atmosphere.

“Cape Town is making headway as the events capital of South Africa. The success of hosting Bafana Bafana along with the Manchester United game recently held in Cape Town, has demonstrated the tremendous pulling power of soccer events at Cape Town Stadium, “ said councillor Grant Pascoe said. “The successful hosting of sporting events at the stadium not only positions Cape Town as a safe, exciting sporting destination, but also contributes to the financial sustainability of the stadium.”

Ticket prices range from R150 – R350 and will be available at all Computicket, Shoprite, Shoprite Checkers outlets and Cape Town Tourism Visitor Information Centres from Thursday. – IOL
