Log leaders Kaizer Chiefs failed to go 10 points clear when they played to a goalless draw against Golden Arrows at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in their Absa Premiership encounter on Saturday.

The game got off to a good start for the onlookers as it was a free flowing spectacle that saw both teams playing with pace and intensity in the opening minutes.

Chiefs thought they had scored in the eighth minute but Lehlohonolo Majoro was ruled offside. Two minutes later Chiefs keeper Khune was forced to pull a good save after Tshepo Liphoko unleashed a brilliant shot from 18-yards.

Majoro had the chance again on the half way mark as he went one on one with the goal keeper but his shot went wide.

In dramatic turn of events, 16 minutes before half time Chiefs were reduced to 10 men after Reneilwe Letsholonyane was red carded for a late challenge on Liphoko.

Chiefs’ players and the bench protested the decision and there was plenty of drama as a fan ran into the field attempting to assault the referee, Lwandile Mfiki, with an object.

In the 85th minute Liphoko had the opportunity to open the account for his side when he received a good pass on the left flank and cut inside, but his effort went across the face of goal.

Two minutes later Chiefs got a break with Majoro setting up Siboniso Gaxa who made a good run down the right flank, but failed to convert as he lobbed the ball over the bar.

The last chance of the game fell to Siphiwe Tshabalala but the Bafana Bafana winger hit the side netting as it ended goalless.
