Jomo Cosmos remain optimistic and are determined to improve their bottom of the table Premiership status as they start preparations for the second half of the campaign.

“We are back from the holidays and we are hard at training,” said club chairman and coach, Jomo Sono.

“It is very important to have a fit team.

“The first round was very tough and being 16th on the log is not good for us.

“What I really like is the attitude of my players.

“They have shown strong character that they are going to perform better when the league resumes.”

Sono said Cosmos would look to reinforce the squad with quality players, and Malawian international Russel Mwafulirwa was training with the team.

Mwafulirwa has returned after a stint in Europe with the hope of securing a contract.

“Russel is one of the players that are capable of adding value to my team,” Sono said.

“He is a very good striker with excellent ball control and has the ability to score goals.

“What I really like about him is that he can combine well with his teammates.

“We have not finalised the deal with him as yet, but it's on the right track.”
