Pretoria – Grant Kekana was the undoing of his own club, the University of Pretoria, scoring an own goal and conceding a penalty to hand SuperSport United a comfortable 3-0 Premiership victory in Pretoria on Saturday.

Kekana, who spent three years at SuperSport before joining Tuks last year, put the visitors ahead after 19 minutes following a wayward clearance, before clumsily tackling Dino Ndlovu in the box 26 minutes later, gifting Clayton Daniels a penalty to put further daylight between the Pretoria rivals.

Dove Wome, on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns, then put the result beyond doubt with his 65th minute finish from a scrappy goalmouth scramble, shortly before Tuks were reduced to 10 men with 25 minutes still to play.

The win was Gordon Igesund's fourth in a row since taking over the job from Cavin Johnson at the beginning of September.

The former Bafana Bafana boss is yet to put a foot wrong at United, guiding the Pretoria giants to three league wins, while bagging a win two weeks ago in the opening round of the Telkom Knockout.

Tuks remain winless against SuperSport in the country's top flight. Saturday's victory, however, marked the first time Matsatsantsa managed to score more than a single goal against their neighbours.

Despite dominating the early exchanges, Tuks soon found themselves a goal down, thanks to Kekana's wild clearance inside the area, after David Mathebula had delivered a dangerous ball into the box.

After missing a glorious chance at the other end of the pitch, Kekana's miserable afternoon continued, bringing down Ndlovu inside the penalty area in first half stoppage time.

Daniels stepped up and made no mistake from the spot, scoring United's second of the afternoon to wrap up a productive opening half for the visitors from down the road.

A depleted AmaTuks outfit were put to the sword by a superior SuperSport, who completed the misery through Wome.

The Togolese attacker stabbed home after a superb run from Thuso Phala allowed SuperSport into the area, before Wome got a foot to the ball to net his fourth of the season.

Tuks had Vuyisile Ntombiayithethi sent off second later for a dangerous tackle on Sibusiso Khumalo, sending the hosts home empty-handed and thoroughly outplayed by a resurgent United. – Sapa
