Johannesburg – South Africa's top tennis player Kevin Anderson climbed three places to reach a career-high 16th in the latest ATP World Tour men's singles rankings, released on Monday.

Anderson, who was previously ranked 19th, reached the second round of the Japan Open in Tokyo last week, where he was ousted 4-6, 4-6, by France's Jeremy Chardy.

He faces James Ward of Britain in the first round of the men's singles at the Shanghai Masters on Monday.

Meanwhile, South Africa's top doubles player, Raven Klaasen climbed one spot to 21. – Sapa
