Paris - Defending champion Rafael Nadal reached the French Open third round on Thursday with a 6-2, 6-2, 6-3 win over Austria's Dominic Thiem.

Eight-time champion Nadal took his career record in Paris to 61wins against a single loss and goes on to face either Leonardo Mayer of Argentina or Russia's Teymuraz Gabashvili for a place in the last 16.
