London – 2012 Wimbledon finalist Agnieszka Radwanska confirmed Martina Navratilova as her coaching advisor for 2015, joining the trend started a year ago by leading ATP men of putting together coaching teams.

Navratilova will become the second high-profile women's coach after Andy Murray's hiring this summer of Amelie Mauresmo, like Navratilova a former grand slam winner.

Radwanska's move came shortly after Florida guru Nick Saviano said he will return to guide American Sloane Stephens a month after he and Wimbledon finalist client Eugenie Bouchard of Canada ended their longtime partnership under unexplained circumstances.

“So happy to announce (at)Martina as the newest member of my coaching team!” Radwanska said in a late-night tweet on Monday.

The sixth-ranked Pole will keep her current main coach Tomasz Wiktorowski, who tipped Polish media last week that Radwanska would take on extra staff, presumably to try to break through for a first grand slam title.

It appears that Navratilova will attend the major events on behalf of Team Radwanska, much in the way Stefan Edberg does with Roger Federer, Michael Chang with Kei Nishikori and Boris Becker with Novak Djokovic.

Navratilova would seem to be prepared to spend 12 to 15 weeks per year with Radwanska at events. – Sapa-dpa
