Berlin – Maria Sharapova climbed to second in the WTA women's tennis rankings Monday behind Serena Williams, a day after defeating Petra Kvitova 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 in the China Open.
Williams, who is out with a knee injury, sees her points slip to 8,645, while Sharapova moves to 6,680, ahead of Romania's Simona
Halep (6,246) and Petra Kvitova (6,126).
