WHEN police told British actress Emma Thompson that a naked middle-aged man had been spotted lurking in the grounds of her Scottish hideaway, she was horrified – but even more so when she realised who the intruder was; it was her.

The 52-year-old Oscar-winner likes to go skinny-dipping in a nearby river whenever she stays at the holiday cottage retreat in Dunoon, Argyll. And, as she quickly made her way back home through a field after a swim, she must have been spotted by a passerby, who sounded the alarm – reporting a male trespasser.

The actress and screenwriter recalled the policeman’s visit in the British summer of last year during an interview for the Jonathan Ross Show.

“He said, ‘We’ve just had someone ring up to report an intruder on your land. There was a dog walker who saw a naked man, about 50 years old, coming through your field’.”

Thompson added that she’d imagined “a naked axe-man” hiding in the bushes – but the case was cracked quickly by her 11-year-old daughter.

“From behind me on the stairs, Gaia, in her PJs, was going, ‘Wasn’t that about the time that you came up from the river, mum?’

“Behind the house there’s a field and a pond. There are sheep in the field, but they don’t mind if I walk up naked.

“I thought, oh my God, oh my God – making the connection.” – Daily Mail
