Johannesburg - Billboard Music Award winner Carly Rae Jepsen is the special guest artist for Sunday night’s Idols SA Season 11 Top 5 Spectacular at the State Theatre in Pretoria.

The 29-year-old Canadian pop star originally got her first break in Idols as well, coming third in season 5 of the Canadian Idol in 2007. Since then she has gone on to dominate world charts with hit after hit, such as 2011’s Call Me Maybe and I Really Like You this year.

Jepsen kicked her South African tour off in Cape Town on Wednesday night when she rocked the Grand West Arena with South African fans, young and old, being mesmerised by her.

She also had a second show at the Monument Amphitheatre in Pretoria on Saturday afternoon before being the special Idols SA guest alongside the Season 11 Top 5 on Sunday afternoon.

The dual musical themes for the Top 5 this week are How It Should Be Done and Viewers’ Choice.

As always, even though the remaining contestants will be rehearsing hard all week, not all of the Top 6 will get to perform today.

The one receiving the least votes this week will have to bid their Idols SA dream farewell during the broadcast.

The remaining Top 5 will each perform two numbers. In the first round they will demonstrate how this year’s Wooden Mic contenders should have performed their songs, and in the second round they will sings songs suggested to them by Idols SA fans on WeChat.

Loyiso Gijana, 16, from Uitenhage, will be showing Golden Mic wannabe Nonelela Bashe how Zahara’s Ndiza should be done, and Idols SA fan Thimna Nobebe suggested Bob Marley’s One Love for the second round.
