A slice of Britain's Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge's wedding cake is up for sale.

The famous fruit cake, which played a starring role in the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's royal wedding, could fetch up to $2 000 when it goes for auction at Julien's Auctions in Beverly Hills, California, alongside a blank invitation for the ceremony, written on Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth stationery.

The three-year-old slice from the ceremony - which took place on April 29 2014 - will be sold wrapped in white paper and presented in a decorative tin.

The auction will also feature five dresses which belonged to the late Princess of Wales, who passed away in August 1997.

According to the auction's website, the most expensive dress in the lot was designed by Zandra Rhodes.

The gorgeous ivory gown has been valued at between $80 000 and $100 000.

Also included are two dresses designed by Catherine Walker, one which was worn by Princess Diana in 1993, and a strapless gown design which is thought to be worth £60 000.

Fans of royal memorabilia can bid in person or online from December 5 from 10am (Pacific Time) until 2pm (PT) and on December 6 from 10am (PT) to 2pm (PT). – Bang Showbiz
