Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have never been happier.

Although the couple have had a tough year with Angelina undergoing a double mastectomy after discovering she carried the BRCA1 mutated gene - which meant it was highly likely she would get breast cancer - their relationship has come through it stronger than ever.

A source said: “Their relationship could have been rocked to the core by the mastectomy and Angelina could have become distant, which she has always said is her tendency to do in a crisis. But she has found that it was a comfort to have someone there with her, for her.

“Angelina felt like they had been so blessed for so long that the fairytale had to have problems at some point. Better to face it head on and then be able to live happily ever after and continue to raise their kids, get married and live their lives.”

The couple's six children, Maddox, 11, Pax, eight, Zahara, seven, Shiloh, six, and four-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne, haven't let Angelina's health scare upset them and instead are doing everything they can to ensure their mother is feeling well.

The insider added to America's OK! magazine: “Angelina has really bounced back from the surgery, she's much healthier in general and the kids constantly remind her and ask if she's taken her vitamins that day, if she's eaten breakfast. If not, Zahara will offer to make her cereal, Pop-Tarts or Eggo waffles. Whatever it is, it's the thought that always makes Angie happy.” - Bang Showbiz
