It would have been so much better for Afroman if he had just gotten high.

The novelty song rapper of “Because I Got High” fame was arrested this week for punching a female fan.

The 40-year-old Afroman assaulted the woman during a performance in at the Kress Live music venue in Mississippi.

According to footage obtained by gossip site TMZ, Afroman was playing the guitar when the fan approached him from behind. The rapper then suddenly let loose with a “right-handed haymaker”, knocking the overzealous fan off her feet.

Witnesses claim that the woman fell hard and was bleeding and crying, but that Afroman then resumed his performance as if nothing had happened.

The set only ended when the house lights came on and the music stopped. While security helped the woman off the stage, Afroman was led away in handcuffs.

According to a representative, Afroman, whose real name is Joseph Edgar Foreman, simply reacted to someone approaching him on stage and didn’t know if it was a man or a woman. The rep also complained that the security for the concert was inadequate, and that the incident was totally out of character for Afroman.
