DJ Euphonik has taken on kwaito legend Arthur Mafokate for feeding the rumour mill “fake stories”.
During an interview with Noeleen Maholwana-Sangqu on Tuesday afternoon, he claimed that Mafokate had lied to the media about him having a relationship with pop singer Chomee.
“At a birthday party that I had, Chomee was invited by my staff to perform.
“I sent her a text message the next morning, saying ‘Thanks for last night, it was awesome’, and she said, ‘Thank you, it was great’, and he (Mafokate) took that SMS out of context – a year later,” Euphonik explained.
Rumours have swirled around Euphonik and Chomee, who have collaborated on some music projects, after it was reported that Euphonik’s assistant had said the two were an item.
Another report, by the Sunday Sun, said Chomee had sent Euphonik a nude picture.
This was during the time that Euphonik was still dating media personality Bonang Matheba.
“It’s unfortunate that in entertainment circles we come across guys like Arthur. And that’s the truth about him.
“Respect across all industries and facets of life is earned,” said Euphonik.
The DJ maintained that Chomee had never sent him nude pictures and that he had no beef with Mafokate.
“Cabanga ngizo beefa nomuntu omdala (Imagine me beefing with an elder),” he added.
Euphonik also took the opportunity to clear the air regarding other rumours about him and to talk about his plans for the future.
After denying reports that he had hit Matheba, he said: “My dream was to be married and procreating when I was 25, but every year was next year and next year.
“I’m hoping in the next two to three years.
“I think I’m more than set up to be able to settle down. I definitely want children. I want to have a squad – like five or six,” he said.
