Ben Affleck had a “great” birthday weekend with Jennifer Garner.
The Oscar winner, who recently split from the 'Butter' actress after 10 years of marriage, was photographed looking rather unhappy while celebrating turning 43 on 15 August with his estranged wife and their three children, Violet, nine, Seraphina, six, and Samuel three, at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in the Universal Orlando Resort.
But a source close to the 'Gone Girl' star has insisted: “Despite appearances, they actually had a really good time. The kids had a great day. Anyone who has been knows that navigating through an amusement park with multiple children is difficult at times. But they had a great day.
“Ben just wanted to spend his birthday weekend with his family. And that's what he did.”
An eyewitness also told E! News: “They looked like they were having a great day together. [They were] smiling and the kids looked very happy and adorable too.”
But another onlooker told UsMagazine.com: “It was clear they were together for the kids and putting up a united front. They didn't outwardly appear to be having a ton of fun. But they weren't rushing around, and kept telling the kids they would do whatever they wanted.”
The family also visited Disney World on 16 August after flying to Florida from Atlanta, where Jennifer, 43, is currently filming 'Miracles from Heaven'.
The former couple are trying to make their split as easy as possible for their young children.
A source said: “Ben and Jen are making the best of the situation. They are just trying to get through the separation and have put on really brave faces.”
