London - Beyoncé and Jay Z had a "special commitment ceremony" on her birthday.

The couple - whose marriage has been dogged by speculation it is on the rocks in recent months - reportedly decided to "wipe the slate clean" and reaffirmed their love for one another in an intimate ritual on a beach in Corsica on September 4 when the singer turned 33.

A source told the new UK issue of Grazia magazine: "Beyoncé's birthday felt like an appropriate time for them to wipe the slate clean and start their marriage all over again, so during their break they held a special commitment ceremony.

"They were joined on a private beach by Beyoncé's mum Tina, their daughter Blue Ivy and a small group of close friends and recited a new set of vows during a short but very romantic ceremony, which doubled up as a birthday celebration."

The ceremony - which was officiated by the couple's therapist - was then followed by a reception dinner before the couple jetted off on a "second honeymoon".

The source added: "The small wedding party celebrated with drinks and food made by the couple's private chef. Afterwards, they rented a luxury $500,000 a yacht to cruise around Italy, which they have been calling their second honeymoon.

"From now on, they intend to mark the day of the ceremony as their new wedding anniversary and have told friends they are focusing firmly on their future together." - BANG Showbiz
