Beyonce's father is being sued for almost $65 000 (about R707 200).

Music manager Matthew Knowles, who has had a troubled relationship with the 'XO' hitmaker since she cut professional ties with him in 2011, allegedly owes money to an accounting firm he hired to handle his finances.

The credit bureau, which boasts a client list of high-end entertainers and athletes, has filed court documents in a bid to collect $64 587.14 from Matthew, according to gossip website TMZ.com.

Last month Matthew, 63, was forced to hit back at allegations he owed $24,000 in child support to his former lover Alexsandra Wright for their three-year-old son Nixon, whom he has never met, and claimed that messed up paperwork was to blame for the dispute.

Matthew married former model Gena Avery in Houston, Texas last July but neither Beyoncé nor her sister Solange Knowles, 27, attended the ceremony.

Beyoncé, who has a two-year-old daughter Blue Ivy with her rapper husband Jay-Z, previously hinted that she and Matthew, who split from her mother Tina Knowles in 2009 and divorced her in December 2011 after 31 years of marriage, were still in the process of rebuilding their relationship after they decided he would no longer be her manager.

She said: "It took a while for me and my dad to have an understanding. When I turned 18 and started handling my business more, he went into shock. And we had our issues. I'd say 'No' to something, and he'd book it anyway.

Then I'd have to do it because I'd look bad [if I didn't]. We would fight sometimes, and it took about two years, to when I was 20, for him to realise, 'Oh, she is an adult now, and if she doesn't wanna do something, I can't make her do it.' " - Bang Showbiz
