Media personality Bonang Matheba was allegedly assaulted by 5FM DJ Euphonik last week. Both The Sunday World and The Daily Sun have reported that the Live presenter opened a case of assault against Euphonik. Matheba has also obtained a protection order at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court.

Her lawyer, Bongani Khoza, said: “We confirm that Matheba indeed approached a court and made an application. The matter is pending before a court of law and is thus sub judice.

“While we realise and appreciate the fact that Matheba is a media personality we put emphasis on the point that the matter is a personal matter and as such we demand that Matheba's privacy be respected.”

When approached for comment, Euphonik claimed that he had no idea what reporters were talking about.

According to sources quoted in Sunday World who claim to have seen the incident, Matheba and Euphonik had an argument at his home in Westdene, which resulted in her storming out of his premises and returning to her apartment in Hyde Park. Euphonik is said to have followed her to her place, which was where the alleged assault took place. Matheba was allegedly rescued by neighbours who heard her screaming. - IOL
