Details of former president Nelson Mandela's meetings with various celebrities including Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron and ‘Top Gear’ presenter Jeremy Clarkson feature in his personal assistant Zelda La Grange's book released on Thursday.

According to snippets published in Beeld, Mandela arranged koeksisters for Theron after she said in an interview she would love some on her visit to South Africa.

“Madiba offered her koeksisters and although she took one, she never ate it,” La Grange wrote.

Clarkson reportedly asked Mandela if strippers had ever sat on his lap.

Mandela told disgraced Proteas cricket captain Hansie Cronje to take personal responsibility after his match-fixing scandal, that South Africans would forgive him, and that he needed to move on.

She wrote of Mandela's frustration over his successor Thabo Mbeki's HIV/Aids policies and after he finally managed to arrange a meeting with then health minister Manto Tshabalala-Msimang, she left early for an appointment to try on a dress.

She also wrote about how Mandela was treated by state doctors.
