Boxer and record label owner Floyd Mayweather was witness to an horrific murder-suicide on Monday.

The unbeaten fighter had been FaceTiming with Earl Hayes, a rapper who had previously been signed to his Philthy Rich Records label, when Hayes shot his wife Stephanie Moseley and then turned the gun on himself.

According to gossip site TMZ, Mayweather was a witness to the tragic event after Hayes called him in a rage because of his wife’s alleged infidelity with a famous singer. Hayes was threatening to kill his wife and Mayweather pleaded with him not to.

Los Angeles police raced to the high-end apartment complex after residents heard a woman screaming and up to 10 gunshots.

A SWAT team broke into the apartment and found the bedroom door closed. A police spokesperson said that when they tried to gain access to the bedroom, they heard two more gunshots.

Stephanie Moseley was an actress and back-up dancer. She had performed alongside Chris Brown, Janet Jackson and Britney Spears, and had also secured roles in movies such as The Twlight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, Mirror Mirror and Sparkle.

Chris Brown posted this tribute to her: “RIP baby girl. Danced with me on tour and was always the coolest person. My prayers go out to you and HAZE family” (sic).

A close friend of the couple said the pair were in the process of separating.

“I've had sit downs with both of them so whatever happened behind those doors we'll never know, but I heard out of her own mouth, he never raised a hand on her, so this is kind of stunning,” said Burrel Wilks, Hayes’s life coach. - Tonight Reporter
