Jim Carrey vowed his love for his former flame - whose funeral took place on Saturday, almost two weeks after she was found dead in an apparent suicide - will not be "lost" as he shared a picture of himself and the 30-year-old make-up artist.

Alongside the silhouetted image, he posted a flower emoji and wrote: "Love cannot be lost."

The 53-year-old star’s post - his first since his ex-girlfriend's death - came hours after he helped carry Cathriona's casket at her funeral in Cappawhite, Ireland.

A source said he "seemed terribly upset" during the service.

The insider added to People magazine: "It was nice that he carried her coffin. Cathriona's sisters and family seemed very glad to have him there."

During the service at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Cathriona's home village, Parish Priest Tadhg Furlong paid tribute to the "strong-willed" make-up artist.

He said: "Cathriona's approach to life was to take on, to challenge the county, the country, the world.

"You remember the outgoing personality - the strong-willed, determined character. Cathriona was a light to so many. Something of the light has gone out. Yet much remains.

"The light continues to shine. The light of love lives on; the love you had for Cathriona; the love she had for you."
