Benedict Cumberbatch is engaged. The actor is to marry girlfriend Sophie Hunter, but it is not yet known when the pair will wed.
News of the engagement was revealed in The Times newspaper.
The notice read: “The engagement is announced between Benedict, son of Wanda and Timothy Cumberbatch of London, and Sophie, daughter of Katharine Hunter of Edinburgh and Charles Hunter of London.”
Benedict, 38, was first romantically linked with the 36-year-old theatre director in June when they were seen watching tennis together.
When asked about their romance in the summer, Sophie’s mother Katharine said: “Watch this space.”
The pair were last seen at the London restaurant Quaglino’s, but they arrived separately and were keen not to be pictured together.
