Johannesburg - A Joke by a local comedian on a social network platform left some feeling sour on Women’s Day.

The Mail & Guardian reported how comedian Trevor Noah faced a backlash on Twitter after posting a joke about athlete Caster Semenya.

Noah’s tweet read: “Happy Women’s Day ladies. Hope you all have a great day. Even you Caster.”

While some joined in and were entertained by Noah’s discreet questioning of Semenya’s gender, others found it insensitive.

Brian Kudakwashe posted: “Funny, but insensitive. Not cool.”

Noah replied to Kudakwashe acknowledging his point. “That’s a very honest response. I appreciate that. I never mean to hurt though, I just joke about everything.“ – Saturday Star
