One Direction fans are angry at alleged 'racism' directed against Zayn

One Directioners have set up a petition demanding an apology after US TV host Bill Maher joked about Zayn Malik looking like Boston marathon bombing accused Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

Maher made the quip on Real Time with Bill Maher on Saturday night, drawing gasps from the studio audience when he showed a split screen of the two and asked: "Where were you during the Boston marathon?"

There is a Twitter backlash #RespectForZayn stating: "This is about how Islamophobia, racism, and discrimination of ANY kind of wrong, shouldn't be ignored and must end. Racism should not become normalised especially on television."
