Jennifer Lopez tripped over her dress while she was presenting at the Oscar Awards last night.

The 45-year-old singer was left red faced after she stumbled on the train of her dress at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles when she presented Chris Pine with the Best Costume gong. But luckily, the 'Star Trek' star managed to prevent the brunette beauty from landing on her face as he quickly caught her.

The 'Made in Manhattan' star knew her nude princess dress may cause her some issues when she chose it but it was a risk she was prepared to take because she felt she was experienced.

Speaking to US journalist Lara Spencer, she said: “I knew it would be a challenge, but I like a challenge. I have a whole technique. I got this. I'm used to it. I've done it so many times.”

However, despite her confidence, the stunning star admitted she had brought another dress with her for the after-party.

She explained: “There's a party dress. When I turn around you'll see what I mean. You can't party in this dress.”

Later in the evening, Idina Menzel jokingly introduced John Travolta as “Glom Gazingo”.

The 43-year-old singer wreaked her revenge on the actor after he infamously introduced her as “Adele Dazeem” during last year's Academy Awards, but the 'Frozen' star seemed to have prepared for last night's quip as she took to the stage to present the Best Original Song accolade.

Speaking to the audience at Los Angeles' Dolby Theater, she said: “Please welcome to the stage my very dear friend Glom Gazingo.”

The 61-year-old actor then walked on stage and hugged her before patting the 'Wicked' star on the face and embracing the joke.

He said: “I deserve that, but you, my darling, my beautiful, my wickedly talented Idina Menzel.”

She added: “You got it, not like it's going to follow me around for the rest of my life or anything.”

He replied: “Yeah, tell me about it.”

The pair then presented the Best Original Song award to John Legend and Common for their hit 'Glory' from historical drama movie 'Selma', which they performed earlier in the night.

But Idina wasn't the only lucky recipient of John's affections on the evening as he also treated Scarlett Johansson to an impromptu peck on the cheek on the red carpet.

Oscars host Neil Patrick Harris later poked fun at John for his “face-touching” and joked he will have to return next year to say sorry for his hands-on approach.

He told the audience: “[John] Travolta will be back again next year to apologise for all the face-touching.”

Neil also made a quip about John in a nod to his mispronunciation of Idina's name at last year's ceremony.

He said: “Benedict Cumberbatch. It's not only the most awesome name in showbusiness, it's also the sound you get when you ask John Travolta to announced Ben Affleck.” – Bang Showbiz
