IT IS a far cry from the kind of glowing reviews she usually receives.

Angelina Jolie has been labelled a ‘minimally talented spoilt brat’ with a ‘rampaging ego’ – by a Hollywood boss.

In a series of damning emails, allegedly leaked by hackers who targeted Sony Pictures, the Oscar-winning actress is also branded ‘insane’ and accused of turning a film project into a ‘$180 million ego bath’.

The character assassination of Miss Jolie apparently comes from a heated exchange between producer Scott Rudin and Amy Pascal, co-chairman of Sony Pictures.

Their private correspondence reveals Miss Jolie, 39, was unhappy about director David Fincher choosing to work on Sony’s biopic of Steve Jobs rather than overseeing Cleopatra, the forthcoming epic in which she reportedly plans to star alongside her husband Brad Pitt and their six children.

As Mr Rudin and Miss Pascal discuss the situation, things quickly become fiery. Mr Rudin, whose credits include The Social Network and The Grand Budapest Hotel, apparently criticises Miss Jolie for taking a break from acting to direct another film, Unbroken, and makes it clear he wants nothing to do with Cleopatra, which he dismisses as a ‘$180 million ego bath’.

In a furious rant to Miss Pascal, he alleges: ‘We both know [Cleopatra] will be the career-defining debacle for us both. I’m not destroying my career over a minimally talented spoiled brat who thought nothing of shoving this off her plate for 18 months so she could go direct a movie.

‘I have no desire to be making a movie with her, or anybody, that she runs and that we don’t. She’s a camp event and a celebrity and that’s all and the last thing anybody needs is to make a giant bomb with her that any fool could see coming.

‘We will end up being the laughing stock of our industry and we will deserve it, which is so clearly where this is headed that I cannot believe we are still wasting our time with it.’

In an earlier exchange, Mr Rudin orders Miss Pascal to ‘shut Angie down before she makes it very hard for David [Fincher] to do Jobs [the Steve Jobs film]’. Miss Pascal responds with an expletive and tells Mr Rudin not to threaten her, which then prompts him to lay into UN ambassador Miss Jolie again.

He writes: ‘There is no movie of Cleopatra to be made (and how that is a bad thing given the insanity and rampaging spoiled ego of this woman and the cost of the movie is beyond me) and if you won’t tell her that you do not like the script – which let me remind you, SHE DOESN’T EITHER – this will just spin even further out in Crazyland but let me tell you I have zero appetite for the indulgence of spoiled brats and I will tell her this myself if you don’t. Watch how you talk to me.’

The emails, which date back to February, are the latest in a series of leaks which have been devastating to Sony, the studio behind the Spider Man and James Bond films.

Five new movies were stolen and posted online, costing millions in lost revenue, and a steady stream of confidential information about the company’s stars and executives has also been released.

A group calling itself Guardians of Peace has claimed responsibility, saying it hacked into the company’s network last month with the aim of forcing Sony to cancel the release of comedy The Interview, which makes fun of North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un. A post from the group reads: ‘Stop immediately showing the movie of terrorism which can break the regional peace and cause the War.’ However, the FBI said it does not have evidence to tie North Korea to the hacking.

A representative for Miss Jolie did not respond to requests for comment about the leak.

Miss Jolie and Mr Pitt, who are worth an estimated £172million, have six children together – Maddox, 13, Pax, ten, Zahara, nine, Shiloh, eight, and six-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox – and were married earlier this year.

Miss Jolie is best known for starring in films including Salt, Girl Interrupted, for which she won an Oscar for best supporting actress, and Mr and Mrs Smith, which is where she and Pitt met. The actress, who is also a UN Ambassador, has won numerous awards including three Golden Globes. - Daily Mail
