June Shannon sure knows how to pick them.
The mother of reality TV star Honey Boo Boo is currently under fire for rekindling a romance with convicted child molester Mark McDaniel, who sexually assaulted one of her children. He isn’t, however, the first sex offender she has dated.
Michael Anthony Ford, the father of June’s 17-year-old daughter Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon, served over two years in prison for the sexual exploitation of a child over the internet in 2005. According to the Daily Mail, he remains on the sex offenders registry and is currently behind bars on a separate child abandonment charge.
Then there are the fathers of Shannon’s other children – not sex offenders, but criminals nonetheless.
David Michael “Sugar Bear” Thompson, father of Alana, was sentenced to five years in prison in 1998 for robbing a series of campsites and arson.
David Dunn, father of Anna, was sent to prison in 1995 for stealing a gun, and then again in 1998 for stealing a carton of cigarettes.
Nobody, including June Shannon, appears to know who Laury’s father is.
Network TLC has cancelled the ‘Here Comes Honey Boo Boo’ reality show because of June Shannon’s relationship with sex offender McDaniel.
McDaniel was sentenced to 10 years in prison for sickening sexual assaults on June’s eldest daughter Anna, the details of which were recorded in a 2003 police report.
In the file, Anna “Chickadee” Shannon told officers that she had done “the S-word” with McDaniel.
She also told police that he had touched her inappropriately, forced her to do the same and also forced her to perform a sex act on him.
Now 20-years-old, and married with a two-year-old daughter, Anna told People magazine that June refused to believe her when she told her of the abuse.
“A week or so after it happened, I talked to Mama and she was upset, crying and saying, ‘I don't believe you, I don't believe you, why would you do this to me?’ “
“And I was like, ‘Mama, he did that to me and I can't do anything about it. You were never there to see it. You were always at work’.”
In 2012, Anna’s ex-boyfriend said in an interview that McDaniel had threatened to kill Anna if she told anyone about the abuse.
“Anna told me that McDaniel threatened that if she ever told her grandparents what happened to her, he’d kill them and her.”
McDaniel was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to child molestation. - Tonight Reporter
