Julianne Moore has won the Best Actress prize at the British Academy Film Awards in London.
The 54-year-old actress won the award for her performance as Dr. Alice Howland - a renowned linguistics professor at Columbia University in the US - in the movie 'Still Alice'.
When she collected her award, Moore thanked "everybody in the Alzheimer's community who were so generous with their time and telling me their experiences".
The movie - which also features Alec Baldwin, Kristen Stewart and Kate Bosworth - follows Moore's on-screen character's battle against Alzheimer's disease.
The drama film, which is written and directed by Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland, is based on the 2007 best-selling novel of the same name by Lisa Genova.
In winning the prize, Moore beat off competition from Amy Adams ('Big Eyes'), Felicity Jones ('The Theory of Everything'), Rosamund Pike ('Gone Girl') and Reese Witherspoon ('Wild').
Moore - who has also written a successful series of children's books - won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama in January and has also received her fifth Oscar nomination for her performance in the film. – Bang Showbiz
