Actor and film-maker Kamal Haasan, whose film Vishwaroopam was in the race for India’s official entry to the Academy Awards this year, is not disappointed at losing out.

“My films have gone to the Oscars seven times,” he said. “It makes more sense for Indian talent to take part in American movies and win Oscars.

“Or it must be how Ray saab (Satyajit Ray) did it for world cinema. Otherwise, we are just visiting America, we are tourists.”

Satyajit Ray, the legendary film-maker and writer, not only won an Oscar, but all the major awards. His film Pather Panchali won 11 international prizes, including one at Cannes. This year, out of the 21 Indian films competing for Oscar glory, The Good Road is India’s official entry. Other films include The Lunchbox, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Ship of Theseus, English Vinglish, Vishwaroopam, Malayalam film Celluloid and Bengali film Shabdo. – Oneindia.in
