Christie is one of the new names on the cast list for the hotly anticipated Star Wars film and will take on the role of villain Captain Phasma.

While we haven't seen or heard too much of the character yet, Christie does give us a little hint as to what we can expect.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the actress said: “We knew very little about her at this stage, but what I think people are drawn to is that this is a very progressive female character,”

“We see Captain Phasma, and we see the costume from head to toe, and we know that it is a woman. But we are used to, in our media, connecting to female characters via the way that they look, from the way they are made flesh. We are actually connecting to a female character as a human being.”

The Force Awakens was already one of the most anticipated films of 2015, but the trailer really has seen the excitement for the film go through the roof.

This will be the first time that J.J. Abrams has helmed a film in the franchise, while Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver and Domhnall Gleeson are some of the other new names starring alongside Christie.

As if one huge franchise was not enough for Christie, we are also going to be seeing her step into another this month as she is set to take on the role of Commander Lyme in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2. She is the big new addition to the final film in the franchise.

Christie shot to fame playing Brienne of Tarth in TV shot Game of Throne and roles in The Hunger Games and Star Wars is only going to send her star rocketing even higher.

There's still a few weeks to go until Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits the big screen but it looks set to be one of the biggest movies of 2015.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is released 17th December.
