Los Angeles: German director Uwe Boll, has given Hollywood a piece of his mind in an angry YouTube video that had been viewed more than 1 million times in the three days since he posted it.

Boll, who is known for films based on video games, unleashes a torrent of expletives in the one-and-a-half-minute video in which he slams crowdfunding and the movie industry in general.

“For me, crowdfunding is absolutely dead. Good-bye. End,” said Boll.

Boll posted the video on Sunday, ahead of the close of his third crowdfunding campaign, an effort to raise $50 000 for the movie Rampage 3: No Mercy at the website Kickstarter.

He managed to raise only about $27 000, prompting Boll to declare: “Looks like nobody gives a sh*t about Rampage 3. Maybe I shouldn’t do it then.”

The director said it didn’t matter to him because “I have enough money to play golf until I’m dead”.

Boll, 49, said the two earlier crowdfunding campaigns to raise money for his movie projects also failed. The first was a Kickstarter campaign to raise $500 000 to make a sequel to his 2006 film Postal. He cancelled that after raising only $29 000 in donations.

The second was a campaign to raise $100 000 at Indiegogo for Rampage 3: No Mercy. It also fell far short of the goal, according to Cnet, a technology news website.

“Basically my message is f*** yourself because (crowdfunding) is so f***ing absurd,” Boll said.

“It’s all f***ing bullshit. I will never do it in my life again.”
