Exploring Consciousness will present a two-day film focus to celebrate the 80th birthday of the Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso.

The film focus – which takes place on July 5 and 6 – will also feature the South African premiere of a new film Road to Peace – ancient wisdom of the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet on July 5 at 6pm at the Labia.

This particular screening is a Benefit Nepal event for quake victims. A lui ceremony featuring Tibetan instruments will be held before the screening at 5.30pm.

Made in 2013 by filmmaker Leon Stuparich Peace – ancient wisdom of the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet was filmed during a rare visit to Great Britain and documents the Dalai Lama’s interaction with people as he shares his spiritual and humanitarian message with a wide range of cultures and creeds.

Other films which will be screened are Martin Scorsese’s hymn of praise, Kundun (July 5 at 2pm and July 6 at 7.30pm); 10 Questions for the Dalai Lama by Rick Ray (July 5 at 11.30am and July 6 at 4pm); 24 hours in the life of the Dalai Lama by a Russian film crew, Sunrise Sunset (July 5 at 4.30pm and July 6 at 2pm); and the story of two mischievous friends in Tutu and Tenzin (July 5 at 1pm and July 6 at 1pm).
