The awaited Eid release of ‘Kick’ is upon us with the Salman Khan starrer having hit the big screen on Friday. Bollywoodhungama.com reports…
KICK has been in the news for all the right reasons, prominent among them are the breathtaking action scenes performed by Salman Khan. It might come as a surprise to a few that many of the action sequences were shot with the help of drones, a practice that is quite popular in Hollywood.
A drone is an aircraft without a human pilot aboard. The makers of Kick say that this is the first time they have been used in an Indian film.
Considering that the drones are costly and require technological know-how to use, Kick’s director, Sajid Nadiadwala, flew in a team from Los Angeles to operate them.
Multiple drones were used to get shots from a number of angles.
Kick, starring Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez, released last Friday.
Bollywood Hungama’s Joginder Tuteja reports that Fernandez, who started her career with Aladin a few years back, is seeing quite a few projects come her way.
Although she survived a period of disappointment with her first few films turning out to be non-starters, she has reason to smile, what with Nadiadwala and Khan bringing her on board for Kick, and a pairing in the making with Ranbir Kapoor for Roy.
“Slowly but steadily she has seen her stakes going up,” says an observer. “One has to credit her for the right moves she made. As someone from far-off Sri Lanka who wanted to make her career in Bollywood and didn’t know a word of Hindi, she could have lost her way after two consecutive flops. However, instead of signing any random film or taking a long break while waiting for a real biggie to come her way, she played on her strengths and made a calculated move by picking up Murder 2.
She hasn’t looked back since, what with a hat-trick of hits that include Race 2 and Housefull 2. With a film each with Salman and Ranbir, the industry’s current super-star and the next big superstar, Fernandez has all the right reasons to smile.”
“More so since she isn’t merely there because a Hindi film requires a leading lady,” an insider says with regards to Kick and Roy.
Nadiadwala waited more than six months to cast the right actress – someone who displayed some glamour and had acting chops. He couldn’t have settled for anyone better for his directorial debut.
On the other hand, Fernandez plays a double role in Roy and has to match Ranbir’s superior acting skills. Even with Khan and Ranbir around, she is in these films for all the right reasons.
Fernandez was more than happy to be acknowledged as an emerging actress: “Yeah, I have started hearing a lot of that, especially after Race 2,” she smiles.
“I am happy with these compliments as people have started believing in me as an actress. I guess it is also about being in the right projects. Yes, there has been a waiting period involved, but I am fine with that. I am okay to hold on for a bit rather than being associated with something that might not work or doesn’t have potential. Patience is a virtue you need in this industry.”
