Karan Johar has launched many actors in Bollywood and although he is not presently directing a movie, of late he has been producing various films, launching debutante actors and giving selected talented directors their “big break”.

Ali Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan all got their big break in the movie and it was only because of the support of Johar.

Seeming to have an eye for spotting talent, Johar uses his production house, Dharma productions, to support up-and-comers. From debutante directors to actors, he seems to know exactly who has that star quality.

And Johar’s latest spotting is Kangana Ranaut. He is collaborating with her for his upcoming production, Ungli. He will also team up with Emraan Hashmi and Randeep Hooda for the project.

Johar has apparently become a fan of Ranaut and while she is already known in Bolly, he has the ability to develop her into a star.

His backing has always proved to be beneficial and that’s why he is known to have many friends in the industry. Ke is so impressed with the actress’s performance in Ungli that he has showered her with praise. This is Ranaut’s first Dharma.

With Johar i her corner, we are sure the two collaborating on many projects in the near future.

Meanwhile, let’s look at those actors whose careers where changed for the better through Johar. Here is a list of 10 who became stars thanks to him.

Alia Bhatt: If it weren’t for her debut film, Student Of The Year, which was produced by Johar, we’d have no idea where Bhatt would have been today.

Kajol: Kajol is Johar’s lucky charm. We don’t know if her charm really works, but any Johar movie is incomplete without Kajol.

Preity Zinta: Zinta’s career was in a lull in her career when Kal Ho Na Ho came along and everyone knows what a big hit that film was. Kareena Kapoor was the first choice for the role and she still regrets turning it down.

Rani Mukerji: The actress had already debuted in the industry, but no one took notice of her until Kuch Kuch Hota Hai released, after which she never looked back. Most of her films were with Johar.

Shahrukh Khan: He was already a Bollywood star, but most of you will agree when I say that his star status soared because of the numerous films he and Johar did together.

Sidharth Malhotra: Sidharth had the backing of Johar which worked really well thanks to the super hit, Student Of The Year.

Varun Dhawan: In spite of being a director’s son, he got his first big break with Johar. His movies with his father didn’t work that well compared to the films he has done with Johar.

Imran Khan (pictured left): After a string of flops, his film with Johar, I Hate Luv Storys, gave him the comeback platform he needed in the industry.

John Abraham: The actor entered Bollywood with Jism and was typecast, but it was Johar’s Dostana that gave him more scope.

Saif Ali Khan: The talented actor’s career was in a downward spiral until Johar’s Kal Ho Na Ho gave him a new lease on “star status”. – oneinida.in
