Jolie to receive honorary Oscar

Los Angeles - And the honorary Academy Awards go to - Angelina Jolie, Steve Martin, Angela Lansbury and Italian costume designer Piero Tosi.

The film academy announced on Thursday that Jolie will receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, while Martin, Lansbury and Tosi will get Oscars recognising their career achievements.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Board of Governors voted on the recipients of the honorary Oscars earlier this week.

Jolie's prize is presented "to an individual in the motion picture industry whose humanitarian efforts have brought credit to the industry" while Angela, Steve and Piero will received an Honorary Award "to honour extraordinary distinction in lifetime achievement, exceptional contributions to the state of motion picture arts and sciences, or for outstanding service to the Academy".

Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs said: "The Governors Awards pay tribute to individuals who've made indelible contributions in their respective fields."

She added that they are "excited" to honour Angelina, Angela, Steve and Piero as they recongise their "extraordinary achievement".

The awards will be presented at an untelevised ceremony on November 16 at Hollywood & Highland Center's Ray Dolby Ballroom.
