Mariah Carey has joined the cast of 'Lego Batman'.

The singer - who has starred in movies including 'Precious' and 'Glitter' - will voice a character in Warner Bros.' spin-off of 2014's critical and commercial smash, 'The Lego Movie'.

Mariah will join a host of stars for the film, including 'Arrested Development's Will Arnett as Batman and Michael Cera as his sidekick Robin.

Ralph Fiennes is to voice the part of loyal Butler Alfred and Zach Galifianakis will play The Joker.

While Mariah was previously tipped to voice the character of Commissioner Gordon, the Hollywood Reporter states that she will play a different character but no specifics have been revealed.

Many people from the team behind the first film are returning for the new production.

Safekeepers for the Lego screen brand Dan Lin, Phil Lord, Roy Lee and Christopher Miller will produce the film while 'The Lego Movie's animation supervisor Chris McKay has been brought on board to direct.

Skilled writer Seth Grahame-Smith has also penned the script for the movie, having recently been announced as the screenwriter for the much-anticipated 'Beetlejuice 2'.
