RUNNING TIME: 146 minutes

There is a film that is so fancy in its imagination it is almost impossible to believe it.

This is a relationship film with an elegant portrayal from a debutante director. While most parts of it are a stimulating study of the intertwining love stories, it is the chemistry created among the characters that keeps the energy flowing.

Plot: Roy (Ranbir Kapoor) is a mysterious thief whose whereabouts are difficult to unravel. Kabir Grewal (Arjun Rampal) is a successful film-maker, basing his projects on the life of Roy. While all of his films are box office successes, Kabir’s life changes when he meets Ayesha (Jacqueline Fernandez), with whom he falls in love.

The story develops into a love triangle of sorts as the three characters converge under the most unlikely circumstances.

Verdict: Despite a few unrealistic twists, the story is presented as a one-dimensional narrative. The character study is richly intense, however, the director is unable to match his screenplay with interesting dialogue or gripping scenarios.

Singh does succeed with the frothy romance scenes involving the two couples. It’s is here that the film scores its most memorable moments. Other highlights include the Malaysian setting and refreshing compositions by Ankit Tiwari, Amaal Mallik and Meet Bros Anjjan.

The film also benefits from the talented cast. Kapoor has a significant cameo and his contribution is one of the unmistakeable highlights.

Rampal holds his own, but battles to make much progress in the presence of Kapoor. His darker shades are more refined and viewers will appreciate the large strides he has made towards being a more serious actor.

Fernandez is exuberant and brings about a stylish aura to her two distinct characters.

Recommendation: A complex love story made purely for romantics.
