The first South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) were held in 2012. Oneindia.in’s AVINASH GOPINATH takes a look at some Tamil stars who can be seen at this year’s event, which will be held over two days in Dubai this week.
As far as the nominations go, Goli Soda, Jigarthanda, Velaiyilla Pattathari, Madras and Kaththi are up for Best Film. And Dhanush, Vijay, Karthi, Siddharth and Vijay Sethupathi have been nominated in the Best Actor categorys. Hansika, Amala Paul, Samantha, Lakshmi Menon and Vedhika got the nod for Best Actress. Major celebrities across all four South Indian film industries will be seen at the SIIMA Awards and some of the most gorgeous ladies will perform at the event. We take a look:
Shruti Haasan: It tooks like Haasan has found a knack of walking away with awards for her work in Telugu cinema. While she won the Best Actress award at the second SIIMAs for Gabbar Singh, this year she has been nominated for Race Gurram. Whether she win or not, there is no doubt that she will entertain everyone with her performance on stage.
Shriya Saran: Saran is all set to mesmerise with her dance performance. She has been nominated for her performance in the Telugu film Manam under the category Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Female).
Amala Paul: Making a comeback to the big stage as a performer after her marriage, Mynaa actress Paul will be keen to deliver the goods. This year, she has been nominated for her performance in the movie Velaiyilla Pattathari.
Taapsee Pannu: Pannu is all set to turn on the heat in Dubai. It is speculated that she will perform a musical medley along with a group of dancers.
Pooja Hegde: The actress who was seen in Jiiva’s Mugamoodi will perform at the SIIMA for the very first time. She has been nominated for the Telugu film Oka Laila Kosam under the category, Best Debutante Female.
