Bangkok - James Horner, the movie composer best known for his work in Titanic, Field of Dreams and Braveheart among others, died Monday in a plane crash, media reports said.

Horner, 61, a two-time Oscar winner, was piloting a small aircraft when it crashed near Santa Barbara, California, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Horner won both of his Academy Awards in 1998 for his work on Titanic. He won Best Original Dramatic Score and Best Original Song for “My Heart Will Go On,” which was sung by Celine Dion.

Titanic’s soundtrack sold 27 million copies worldwide, the Hollywood Reporter said.

“My job … is to make sure at every turn of the film it’s something the audience can feel with their heart,” he said in a 2009 interview with the Los Angeles Times.
