The wait is finally over with the release of ABCD 2 at South African cinemas on Friday. The sequel required long hours and a lot of training for the cast. Oneindia.in’s Suparno Sarkar reports

Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor come together for ABCD 2 (Any Body Can Dance 2) which is directed by Remo D’Souza. And for the first time in his career, Dhawan has done dangerous stunts while shooting at Grand Canyon, US.

The actor wanted to do all the stunts himself and refused to use a body double. One stunt required him to jump over a very deep gorge and even one miscalculation would have led to serious injuries.

That’s why Dhawan decided not to tell his parents about it. However, his parents David and Lila found out about the stunt through the media.

“When I performed the stunt during the Las Vegas schedule, I chose not to tell my parents, as I didn’t think it was life-threatening. But once they found out, I had to assure them that it was performed under the supervision of experts and I was not in any danger,” he said.

ABCD 2 is all about dance and the sequel to ABCD. Also, the actor will be seen as a professional dancer in the film and, judging from the trailer, he impressed everyone with his dance moves.

Apart from his dancing, Dhawan grabbed attention for his super fit body in the film, thanks to his dedication and personal trainer. The trailer of ABCD 2 showed him flaunting his ripped body and his personal trainer, Prashant Sawant, reveals how the actor attained this.

Talking about Dhawan’s look in ABCD 2, the trainer said: “When I got to know of ABCD 2 and that Varun was playing the lead, I sat down with him to strategise for the kind of body he wanted. Remo sir had instructed us that he wanted Varun to look ripped and lean at the same time, just like a dancer’s body.

“After Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badlapur, which required very different looks, achieving the cut and ripped look for ABCD 2 was a challenge, but Varun was very dedicated. We worked out every day. On any given day, he would train for dance twice and work out after that. Varun started on a low carb diet, but later it was changed to a high carb and high protein as he needed more energy to shoot the dance sequence.”

ABCD 2 explores the real-life struggle of choreographers Aryan Suresh, Vinnie and Vernon from Nallasopara (a Mumbai suburb), who went on to win the world hip hop dance championship.

The sequel promises to be bigger in scale with heart-throbs, Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead and the dancing star, Prabhudheva, reprising his role of Vishnu sir.

The story traces the journey of an Indian dance troupe, a motley assortment of boys and girls who come from the backstreets of a Mumbai suburb; their rise to fame, sudden downfall and their attempt to seek vindication by regaining their lost pride. – Oneindia.in
