STILL on a high after receiving two MetroFM awards, singer Donald Moatshe is nowhere near coming down.

“I’ve had a journey. This is not something I started yesterday, and I’ve had real hardships,” he said.

Moatshe became very emotional at the awards while he was thanking his mom for always being there for him.

“When it was really hard and people didn’t believe in me, it was just my mom,” he said.

He won best-produced album for his second album, Train Of Love, and best-styled artist at the awards held in Durban. His hit songs I Deserve and Denial are still chart toppers.

On Saturday, Moatshe will be performing at the much-anticipated Hunter’s Oasis Tour party with MTV at Chaf Pozi in Soweto.

The party will see a host of entertainers, including DJs Kent and Raiko and Dr Malinga and Prokid, on stage.

Moatshe, whose music explores the house and dance genres, said his performance at the Hunter’s Oasis Tour would be special as he would be using a live band.

“My performances are very vocal, it’s not just dancing. There’s a part where we do an unplugged set. The performance is more of an experience and we interact a lot with the audience,” he said.

Moatshe also said a special woman would be picked from the crowd and that he would serenade her in a heartfelt, rather than sexy, performance.

“I want people to understand how I feel when I write the music,” he said.

Moatshe’s plans include focusing on his record label D Exclusive Sounds, nurturing new talent and strengthening his business knowledge.

He is also planning a continental tour of southern Africa called The Donald Experience.

“Right now I’m regarded as one of the best, but it’s just the beginning,” he said.

l Fans who attend the Saturday event have a chance to win an all-expenses-paid trip for two to the Hunter’s Oasis Tour in Zanzibar, Tanzania, next month.

Doors open at 2pm. Tickets cost R100.
