GIG OF THE WEEK:

Da Les album launch

CiroctheWeekend series

Taboo (Sunday)

Da Les, perhaps the only active member of the now-defunct hip hop outfit Jozi, is back with a solo album. Titled Mandela Money,

it will be launched at the posh Sandton club, Taboo. The rapper will be supported by his best buddies, AKA and Khuli Chana.

Other talent to look out for will be Dimplez and Pretty Filthy. The show will be held under the CiroctheWeekend. This means you’ll be popping bottles as if

you were in a Diddy music video.

Although Da Les doesn’t drop albums as often as his peers, when he does you feel the difference as he aims for classic hits.

In the past he has given us great songs like We’re On Fire and Tippy Toes so you know he will have a few songs that will last until the next album drops.

The man has done well for himself over the years by performing alongside the likes of Kelly Rowland, Rick Ross, T-Pain and 2Face, to mention a few.

In the year that he starred in Tropika Island of Treasure, he won the R1 million which must have boosted the quality of his project. If you are in his close circle you will know Da Les holds some of the best all-white parties and this year Mandela Money songs will be all you will hear at them. – Munya Vomo

• The show starts at 9pm and admission is yet to be advised. Tel: 021 433 0347.
