GIG OF THE WEEK

Shepard Fairey – Hennessy Party

Anti Est. Braamfontein (Tomorrow)

This one is for those who love the finer things in life, those who do not compromise on the quality of their entertainment. If you see them at a party they are sipping on the finest drink and listening to the finest music.

Speaking of music and drink, have you heard how many songs come with a bit of product placement? You must have and if we are going to be honest, the most mentioned brand of alcohol is Hennessy. From Notorious B.I.G’s One More Chance to Jamie Foxx’s Blame It, there is no denying that “the Henny” is part of pop culture and both the young and old are drawn to it.

So you will be happy to know about the Hennessy Very Special gig being hosted by tomorrow by an American DJ, street artist and graphic designer who will be in the country to show us some of his best work.

For those who do not know who Shepard Fairey is, you probably have seen at least one of his works before. In 2008, in support of Barrack Obama’s presidential campaign, the artist painted the iconic “Hope” portrait (Google it).

He also has a love for music and performs under the monikers DJ Diabetic or Emcee Insulin as he is said to be diabetic.

Fairey will be available to sign some cool Hennessy bottles and merchandise. The event starts at and Anti Est. is located at cnr Juta and De Beer Streets, Braamfontein. Tickets are pegged at R695.
