Five years in the game, five stages, four international acts and a whole lot of dancing. That’s what Grietfest 2015, sponsored by Olmeca Tequila, offers this Saturday. Having moved from Newtown to New Doornfontein, the all-day event, which includes an off-site after party, promises to be a continuation of what partygoers have become accustomed to over the past five years.

Grietfest isn’t your regular full-day music festival. Instead of having headliners who already have a massive mainstream presence and following, the event prides itself on representing the underground in electronic dance music.

Over five stages, local and international artists and DJs will be celebrated. On the Olmeca Main Stage, you can expect to see acts like Okmalumkoolkat, PHFAT, Haezer as well as the Italian band, Aucan, and Belgian producer, Apashe. The Science Frikshun Main Stage Takeover features the likes of UK-based drum ’n’ bass producer, Friction, while the regular Science Frikshun stage will feature Niskerone, Ella G, Kamashe and more.

The Go!Go! Takeover Stage will be the temporary home of acts like The Oddword – electronic music coming from Belgium – as well as Grimehouse. There will also be the Red Bull Live Stage which will feature producer, Richard The III, who now goes by the name Maramza, and Kyle Watson, among others.

This alternative dance music festival is focused on one thing: the music. So if you are looking to get down without the shoulder-to-shoulder sweat of hypebeasts rubbing off on you, this might be the festival for you.

l Grietfest 2015 takes place at The Container Yard in New Doornfontein, Joburg on Saturday. Tickets to the event are only available via www.grietfest.com.
