SYDNEY -

INXS guitarist Tim Farriss lost a finger in a boating accident in Sydney, Australian media reported on Thursday.

Farriss is a founding member of the now disbanded rock band, which was fronted by the late Michael Hutchence.

Farris was working on a boat two weeks ago when his left hand became caught in the anchor winch, Fairfax Media said.

His ring finger was severed, and he had to undergo reattachment surgery, the report said.

The report cited an email Farriss, 57, sent to bandmates in which he was quoted as saying: “I don't know if I will be able to play properly again.”

INXS produced hits such as Original Sin, Suicide Blonde and Need You Tonight. Hutchence committed suicide in 1997. - Sapa-dpa
