ON THURSDAY, September 18, Durban’s hottest entertainment spot, Live – The Venue, will host a benefit show for local musician and electronics whizz-kid, Glen Turrell (pictured right), who is in need of back surgery.

To help Turrell with medical expenses, a show has been put together that will feature The Reals, The Danny Fisher Show Band, Andy Turrell, Sebastian Goldswain and Martin Sigamoney with the MC being Colin Peddie from Rise.

On why he wanted to be involved in the show, Peddie shared: “I have a long history of working with Glen. Mainly, I own a recording studio and Glen does all the technical repair work, but we go way back to the musical The Guitar that Rocked the World. That was the first time I worked with him as a musician. And I’m helping him with this benefit show because he has been a huge support in the music industry, technically and as a musician.”

Peddie said he was contacted by Dawn Selby of The Reals, who asked if he was interested in being on the line-up.

Speaking about the rest of the artists on the bill, he said: “The Reals are always great fun and are one of the best show bands in Durban. Also, Martin Sigamoney has been doing amazing work over the past 20 years. I expect a great show from him on any given day.”

For the past 12 years, Turrell has been selling, designing, fixing as well doing sound for various shows and is the bass player at Westville Baptist Church.
