Rihanna isn’t out to Kill Bill – after all, it’s bills she’s after. But the sight of her blood-splattered face will naturally draw comparisons with another femme-fatale on a bloody rampage of revenge.

That’s partly the theme of Rihanna’s new music video – though the song B***h Better Have My Money has been out for a while, the music video emphatically underlines the aggressive tone, revelling in a gory pastiche of violence, torture, murder and money.

The video stars Eric Roberts and Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen – the latter is seen tied to a chair – and a blonde women who is kidnapped, driven down a highway naked and then strung up (still naked), all while Ri-Ri appears to be having a good time with her girls.

The video ends with a naked Rihanna, lounging in a treasure chest of dollar bills, covered in blood.

Music videos are forever looking for new ways to push the envelope, particularly in the face of declining sales, and sex, nudity and violence will forever ensure that some sort of buzz is created.

The reaction to Rihanna’s video appears to have divided people, with some questioning why Youtube allowed the video to be posted without tighter controls.

“ Rip to those little kids who watched this shit,” commented one viewer, which sparked a debate on the merits of parenting and the warning that comes with the video.

“If a child watch this its the parent fault . you suppose to watch your kids. What kind of parent lets a little kid watch a video called b***h better have my money . its the parent fault not Rihanna,” was one fan’’s view on the matter.

Many seemed unsure what the video was really about – was that Mikkelsen’’s blood on Rihanna’’s face, or the blonde’s? Who owed her money in the first place? But one fan seemed to see through all the theatrics.

“It's really great of Rihanna to make a song about all the fans who buy her music,” commented Mourning Ireland.
