Andrew Neu

Everything Happens For A Reason

Here is a gem to get your toes tapping. Andrew Neu (he is neu to me) has assembled some very competent musos on his album Everything Happens For a Reason in addition to the inclusion of The Los Angeles Studio String Orchestra.

The tracks swing from a duo as in their version of Paul Desmond’s Take Five to orchestral arrangements of Neu’s compo- sitions. Neu leads the various combos on tenor saxophone and the overall effect is an eclectic compilation of great jazz mixed with thought-provoking slower tunes, most of which were composed by Neu.

Guests artist include Steve Oliver (guitar), Rick Braun (trumpet) and Jeff Lorber (piano). This is an imported CD and is available from http://andrewneu.com/. You can listen to the tracks at that address.
