THE second sermon of House Music Comes Alive returns on Saturday and house music lovers are in for a festive treat. Following the successful launch graced by the best in the deep house players culture, the show returns to the previous venue, Some Roof Top (at 162 Anderson Street) in Joburg.

Boasting a vibrant line-up which includes Michael G, Jerah and Sai and Ribatone, among others, the House Music Comes Alive gig will definitely be another success.

For Jerah, this show is going to change the way people view and consume house music given the way in which artists will present themselves.

“Normally, when we perform our songs as DJs, we do it on vinyls, but on this show we will be playing everything live,” he said.

Coming to his set, the DJ said he was going to make it as memorable as possible: “I think I am going to try and strike a balance between the classics and the new material. After 12 years you will have a bit of music to play.”

Jerah has worked with a number of DJs and musicians including DJ Pepsi, Stoan, Kabelo, Tokollo and Tamara Dey.

“I have done a lot of material over the years and also worked with great artists which has improved my craft,” he said.

The plan, according to Jerah, is for House Music Comes Alive to be the one-stop arena for all house music lovers.

“You see the way there is the Cape Town Jazz Festival every year? We want the same for House Music Comes Alive. Up until now, we had no dedicated house festival and for a leading genre in South Africa, that’s just wrong,” he said.

Soulistic Music’s duo, Sai and Ribatone, will launch their new single at the event. For young guys who were discovered by Black Coffee, there is not a shred of doubt as to how talented they are. Also to look out for will be music producers Sculptured music, Deep Xcape and new kids on the block, Melo Soul, who will all perform their material.

Apart from the local talent, the event will also be graced by the presence of QB Smith, the man from London who has since relocated to South Africa thanks to his love of music. He will juggle between bits of vinyl and some digital on the day.

• House Music Comes Alive will take place this Saturday at Some Roof Top (at 162 Anderson Street). Tickets are priced from R80 and they are available at www.webtickets.co.za.
