Arnold Schwarzenegger has been accused by police of riding his motorbike without a proper license.

The actor-turned-politician and his 12-year-old son Patrick were involved in a crash while out riding his Harley Davidson, just miles from his Californian home, last weekend when a car reversed onto the road in front of them.

The pair were quickly rushed to Santa Monica's St John's Hospital where Arnie - who split his lip - was given 15 stitches by paramedics, while Patrick was treated for cuts and bruises following the incident.

The driver of the car was reportedly not injured in the crash.

Police investigating the accident have now discovered the Terminator star never applied for the correct license needed to ride a motorcycle in the US.

Arnie has now admitted he didn't apply for the required licensec, but insists he will be doing so immediately.

The Hollywood legend was previously involved in a motorcycle crash in December 2004 when he broke four ribs and was hospitalised for four days - but the license discrepancy was not uncovered at the time.

The star - who had a heart operation in 1997 - said at the time: "It was very painful, much more painful than the heart surgery. A rib breaking is, like, the worst."
